AquaSilk water softeners, fitted by CPS Plumbing & Electrical

Monaghan has two kinds of water. Towns on boreholes are hard; towns on lake water are much softer. Put in your Eircode and we'll tell you which you're on. Our own plumbers fit AquaSilk softeners right across the county.
From €549 supply only, or €899 fitted in Co. Monaghan.
10-year parts warranty with annual service.
Type your Eircode and your area's hardness reading appears right here, with a straight answer on whether a softener is worth it for you.
That doesn't look like an Irish Eircode. The first three characters are enough, e.g. H18.
Readings are from Uisce Éireann supply-zone data. Just the first three characters will do, and we don't store your Eircode.

It depends which supply you're on. Monaghan town is pumped from boreholes and treated at the Crosses plant, and Carrickmacross runs on its own wellfield, treated at Nafferty. Both are groundwater, and our estimate for both is around 250 mg/L of calcium carbonate, which is hard. The Crosses plant also feeds Scotstown and Ballinode, where hard water has been raised at council level for years.
Castleblayney, Ballybay, Rockcorry and Clontibret are on the Lough Egish regional supply, which is lake water treated at Kilkitt. Lake water in this part of the country picks up far less calcium, so it's much softer, and many homes on it won't need a softener at all.
Each of these has its own page with the local supply:
We also fit in Clones, Castleblayney, Ballybay, Glaslough, Smithborough, Rockcorry and anywhere else in the county.
If you're in Castleblayney or Ballybay, put your Eircode into the checker at the top of the page before spending money. If limescale isn't your problem, an under-sink drinking water filter for taste and chlorine is usually the better buy, and we'll tell you so. See our drinking water systems.
A lot of rural Monaghan is on a group water scheme or its own well. Well water here varies from one townland to the next: some is hard, some carries iron and manganese, and some has both. A softener only deals with hardness, so for a well we send a sample to an accredited lab and specify the system off the results. See our well water treatment page.
Every install is done by our own plumbers, not a subcontractor. Carrickmacross is about an hour and a quarter from our Dublin base and Monaghan town is under two hours. Order the softener fitted online or ring us, send a photo of your stop valve and the space beside it, and we book a morning or afternoon slot. Two to three hours and you have soft water, with the first salt in the tank. For a price first, use the quote form. Next door in Cavan the water is a different story; see our Co. Cavan page.
Bigger house, more people or very hard water means a bigger tank. Tell us the household and we'll mark the right one for a Co. Monaghan home.

Water softener and drinking tap done yesterday by an absolute gentlemen named Iggy, he was efficient, tidy, clean and punctual, called me before hand to let me know roughly time arrives, did the job really professional, we would highly recommend the company and Iggy.
The difference in the water quality is amazing — softer water throughout the house and great-tasting drinking water straight from the tap. I'm very happy with both the products and the workmanship. Highly recommend EcoFilter Ireland to anyone thinking about improving their water quality!
We went for the complete setup: a whole house water softener, the Aplos Angel Direct Flow reverse osmosis drinking water system, and a spray hose triflow tap—and the difference has been amazing. Our entire home is now limescale free, which has made such a noticeable impact.
Anything else, ring 01 554 6266 or email info@ecofilter.ie. You'll get a plumber, not a call centre.
Send us your Eircode and a photo of where the mains comes into the house. We'll come back with the right size, what it'll cost fitted, and whether a softener is even the right answer for your water.
