Description
PFAS are man-made chemicals used in non-stick coatings, waterproofing and firefighting foam. They barely break down, which is why they're called forever chemicals. The European Union (Drinking Water) Regulations 2023 brought in a limit for PFAS in drinking water from January 2026, and this test measures 25 of them individually plus the regulated total.
What it tests
- 25 individual PFAS compounds, including PFOA, PFOS, PFHxS, PFNA, PFBA and HFPO-DA (GenX)
- PFAS total: the sum of the 20 PFAS named in the regulations
Measured by LC-MS/MS, which picks up some compounds at around one part per trillion.
