Bring your own clean containers for collection.

How Should You Prepare?

Here’s a simple checklist to get through the outage:

Fill up jugs, pots, and kettles ahead of time
Avoid washing machines, dishwashers & showers during the outage
Use stored water wisely – prioritize drinking and hygiene
Turn off major appliances to prevent issues from low pressure
After service returns, run cold taps for a few minutes to clear air and sediment

What If the Water Looks Dirty Afterwards?

Discolouration is normal after a large system restart.

Uisce Éireann advises residents to:

  • Run cold water taps for several minutes

  • Avoid using discoloured water for cooking or drinking

  • Contact them if the issue doesn’t clear within a few hours

Final Thoughts

While the disruption is temporary, it’s one of the largest planned repair operations to date. The work is essential for long-term reliability of the water network — and with a bit of planning, households can avoid major inconvenience.
